Another one Gone.
Mark Williams butchers/pie emporium/cooked meats has closed in Ashton (last Easter I believe) a sad loss...their pies/patties were delish...apparently no one in the family wanted to continue the business. It will probably turn into a charity shop/Turkish barbers/kebab shop.

Meat is just too expensive for most folk to buy, and for various reasons, from the price of feedstuffs and energy costs to the farmers, the regularity system, the costs to a farmer of rearing beef cattle, pork and fowl is such that the end cost to the consumer in the butchers shop and supermarket, is more than most consumers are prepared to pay, hence the collapse of demand for meat and meat stuffs, butchers just cannot make it pay

An American, a Russian, and an Israeli are approached by a journalist, who asks, "Excuse me, please tell me what you think of the current meat shortage".
What's a shortage? asks the American.
What's meat? asks the Russian.
What's 'excuse me'? asks the Israeli.
